I have tried a lot of foundations, hoping to find one that would keep my oily skin at bay and make me look flawless. I will show you my favourite foundation so far and two others that I like a lot. With a student budget all of my purchases have been from affordable brands.
My absolute favourite is the L’Oreal Infallible 24h matte. It is by far the best foundation for keeping me as oil-free as possible throughout the day. The coverage is medium and the matte finish is not too matte and looks natural. The only drawback that I’ve found is that I can’t find a shade that perfectly matches my pale winter skin.
Maybelline Fit Me! matte + poreless is also good at keeping me oil-free but the coverage is a bit too low for me. If you prefer a lighter look this could be for you! This foundation claims to have pore-blurring properties but I haven’t found that to be true. Actually it seems to settle into my large pores and this is the main reason why Infallible beats this foundation. Fit me: yes, matte: yes, poreless: no. However, thanks to the matte finish and a good colour match I will keep using this on days when I feel like I can get away with low coverage.
MaxFactor Facefinity compact foundation is always in my bag if I’m out for the whole day. Out of these three I found this to have the highest coverage. The texture is very matte and a bit too unnatural for my taste, but sometimes that is what I need if I’m having a long day and my base is falling apart. It is also great because I don’t need to apply powder on top of it. I’ve used this product for eight years! I fondly remember how it made my teenage skin with a lot of blemishes look good. As a plus, the size of the mirror is amazing and I don’t even carry another mirror with me.
So those were my three favourites. If you have any recommendations please let me know, I would be very happy to discover another good foundation!
